| An interior view of one of the
wall. You can even see a bit of the ledge that the soldiers
stood on to fire over the walls, although Fort Fisher never came
under direct enemy attack. The cannon signaling the final
assault on Lee's lines at Petersburg was fired from here.
Union military executions took place in the field just south of
the fort. |
